The first Shanghai International School on Crystallographic Groups (ISCG) was successfully held in Shanghai University Baoshan Campus in June 2017,
attracting more than 80 students and young scholars from well-known universities across the country (learn more).
This first workshop mainly introduced the space symmetry group theory method and application in solid materials science,
focusing on the practical application of Bilbao Crystallography website server (BCS) to solve problems in solid state physics such as the structural phase transition,
symmetry mode analysis, crystal structure comparison, and magnetic symmetry.
Participants combined their own research experience and conducted in-depth interactive discussions in a wide range of research
areas of interest to them. In view of the wide acclaim received from the participants, this summer, we invited again
the original Europeans team and the newly invited North American team to Shanghai University to provide a lifelong learning and
exchange opportunities for young scholars of condensed matter physics, crystallography and materials science.
In the new workshop, we will focus on the crystal group and its representation, and its application in magnetic structure description and topological-insulator Studies,
from master students to postdoctoral young scholars, from basic to most advanced knowledge.
Here, the International Centre for Quantum and Molecular Structures (ICQMS) of Shanghai University, together with the
lecture team, looks forward to seeing you in Shanghai in this July.
